Mumbai Traffic Update: Police Issue Advisory for February 17 Ahead of PM Modi and French President Visit; Check Details

Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to the city on Tuesday, February 17. In a notification to commuters and motorists, a temporary restriction on the Western Express Highway (WEH) will be imposed for 11 hours.

According to the traffic police notification, Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will not be allowed on the Western Express Highway on both north and southbound lanes. The restrictions will be imposed from 8 am to 9 pm between Vakola Flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka.

Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, police vehicles and government vehicles deployed for VVIP security will be exempted from the above restrictions. Citizens are requested to cooperate with the Traffic Police by following traffic instructions.

"Prime Minister Modi and French President will be visiting Mumbai, and in view of the security of these highly important protected dignitaries, as well as to prevent traffic congestion on the Western Express Highway, it is necessary to impose the following temporary traffic restrictions," Ajit Borhade, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said in a notification.

The following vehicles shall be exempted from the above restrictions:

1. Emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and police vehicles
2. Government vehicles deployed for VVIP security arrangements
3. Vehicles permitted by the Traffic Police as per operational requirements
