Mumbai Weather Update: IMD’s Yellow Alert Continues in Palghar, Thane and Raigad Today as City Records 40 Degrees Celsius

Yellow warning in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), including Palghar, Thane and Raigad to continue even today, March 11, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) as predicted Severe heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of North Konkan.

The day temperature on Tuesday, March 12, IMD recorded the temperature of 40 Degrees Celsius at its Santacruz observatory. This is the highest mercury recorded in the city since March 2021, which was 7.6 degrees above the normal.

The Colaba observatory in South Mumbai recorded 35.4 degrees, which is 4.3 degrees Celsius above normal for this day. As several parts of Mumbai reported 40 degrees, in areas such as Ram Mandir (Oshiwara), which recorded temperatures of 42.4 degrees, and Vikhroli at 41.6 degrees, according to Mid-Day report.

Bandra: 39.7 degrees Celsius
Vidyavihar: 39.5 degrees Celsius

Dahisar: 38.8 degrees Celsius

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is likely to witness temperatures ranging between 24 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius, indicating a sharp rise in daytime heat. 

AQI in Mumbai

Air Quality Index (AQI) in city was recorded at 266 on Wednesday morning, which places the city under the ‘Unhealthy’ category.
