Mumbai Weather Update: Yellow Alert for City, Thane, Raigad As Hot and Humid Conditions To Remain Until May 9
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and several other surrounding districts in the Konkan region, predicting hot and humid conditions in isolated pockets from May 6 to May 9, 2026. While Palghar is likely to experience similar weather conditions from May 7 to May 9.
The weather is likely to remain dry initially, followed by rising humidity levels and uncomfortable weather conditions through the week as the temperature is likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius during the evening, while mornings see partly cloudy skies.
Maharashtra Weather Forecast
IMD has forecast hot and humid weather across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and several coastal districts of Maharashtra over the next few days, while parts of western and central Maharashtra are likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning and moderate rainfall till May 9.
The weather bureau expected hot and humid conditions in the daytime, while evenings to see the possibility of light rain or thundershowers in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nanded, Beed, Sholapur, and Sangli on May 7 and 8.

According to the IMD forecast issued for May 6 to May 9, Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad are expected to experience hot and humid conditions in isolated areas.
Ratnagiri is also likely to witness hot and humid weather, with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers during the afternoon or evening hours on May 7 and May 8.
Thunderstorm Alert for Western Maharashtra
Several districts in western Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli and Solapur, are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers between May 7 and May 8. The Ghats regions of Pune, Satara and Kolhapur may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph at isolated places.
Sangli is likely to experience thunderstorm activity on May 7, followed by light to moderate rainfall on May 8. In Solapur district, the IMD has forecast light rain and thundershowers on May 6, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are expected on May 7.
Districts in Marathwada, including Beed, Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv, are also likely to witness thunderstorm activity during the forecast period. Latur and Dharashiv may receive moderate rainfall along with lightning and gusty winds between May 6 and May 8. Similar weather conditions have been predicted for isolated areas in Nanded and Beed. Parbhani and Hingoli are likely to witness light rain and thundershowers later in the week.

The IMD has also issued thunderstorm warnings for parts of Vidarbha, including Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia. Nagpur and Wardha may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 50-60 kmph at isolated places. Other districts, including Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia, are likely to experience thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph.
Districts such as Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik are expected to remain dry during the forecast period, with no major weather warnings issued by the IMD.
