Mumbai: Woman Molested at Borivali Railway Station, Accused Escapes by Jumping Onto Tracks

Questions have once again been raised over the safety of women travelling on Mumbai’s suburban trains after a woman passenger was allegedly molested by an unidentified youth at Borivali railway station. When the woman resisted, the accused boarded a local train in an attempt to escape and later jumped onto the railway tracks to flee. The Borivali Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered a case against the unidentified accused and launched a search to trace him.

According to police sources, the incident took place on March 9, 2026. The victim was travelling from Virar to Churchgate in the gents first-class compartment of a fast local train. After alighting at platform number 7 at Borivali station, she was heading towards platform number 2 via the foot overbridge, passing through platform number 3.

During this time, an unidentified youth quietly approached her from behind and suddenly grabbed her by placing his hand on her shoulder. He allegedly held her tightly and attempted to touch her inappropriately on the chest. Shocked by the sudden act, the woman panicked but showed courage and pushed the accused away, freeing herself from his grip.

Following this, the accused boarded a local train standing at platform number 2 and tried to escape. The woman bravely chased him by boarding the same train, but the accused jumped off the train onto the railway tracks and fled from the spot.

After the incident, the victim approached the Borivali GRP and filed a complaint against the unknown youth for molestation and outraging her modesty. Police have registered a case and started examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the station premises to identify and trace the accused.
