Rohit Shetty House Firing Case: Mumbai Crime Branch Recovers Weapon Used in Attack; 12 Arrested So Far
The Mumbai Crime Branch has achieved a major breakthrough in the firing incident outside the residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty. During the investigation, police recovered the weapon used in the crime at the instance of an arrested accused. According to officials, five rounds were fired during the incident.
Sources revealed that a Crime Branch team took the main accused to Haryana, where he had concealed the firearm. The weapon has now been sent to the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for ballistic examination. Forensic experts will conduct scientific tests to confirm whether the recovered firearm was indeed used in the firing. Investigators are examining every aspect of the case to ensure strong and conclusive evidence.
So far, 12 accused, including the main shooter, have been arrested from Pune, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Police sources stated that the motorcycle, pistol and funding used in the crime were arranged on the instructions of Praveen Lonkar. The probe is now focused on how he allegedly managed to operate the conspiracy while being lodged in jail.
Nearly 12 teams of the Crime Branch are currently working on the case. A senior officer said that once police custody of Praveen Lonkar is secured, further revelations regarding the conspiracy and the gang’s future plans are likely to emerge.
