Nagpur, Oct 15

When one hears about police, generally the image which comes to mind is of a corrupt cop fleecing money from citizens. But there are exceptions and some are ethical and honest as well. Case in point is a lady constable, who was on duty at Gandhigate, Mahal on October 14. Jyoti Chokhaji Pantawane, attached with Kotawali police station is a Nayak Sepoy. Jyoti was on duty at Gandhigate in Mahal on October 14, where she found a bag lying unattended on a road between 3 and 5 pm. She picked up the bag and saw that it was full of currency notes. Jyoti immediately looked for anyone, who will claim the bag. But no one came to claim the bag, so she deposited the bag in Kotwali police station. The Kotwali police station started to trace the owner of the bag and in the meantime a person named Chunaram Jetharam Chaudhary reached Kotwali police station. He informed the cops that his bag with `43,000 has been lost somewhere. The police verified the truth and handed over the bag to Chaudhary. He immediately counted the cash in the bag and it came to be exactly `43,300. Pantawne was asked to return the bag to Chaudhary.

The money was for labour payment

Chunaram Chaudhary informed that the cash was withdrawn to pay salaries to the labour. As it was a salary day, all labour were waiting for Chaudhary. When they got to know that Chaudhary got his bag with money, all rejoiced.
