Staff of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) are facing financial problems as they have not received salary wages for the past three months.

It has now become impossible for them to bear their daily expenses said the MSRTC Workers’ union adding if their wages are not given on October 7 a statewide agitation would be launched on October 9.

The workers union said MSRTC workers performed their duty without any complaint during Covid-19 pandemic even by endangering their lives.

Regional secretary of the union Ajay Hattewar said the MSRTC staff does not have money even for commute to and from office and purchase items of daily needs.

Number of buses in the MSRTC fleet is increasing and MSRTC has been allowed run its full strength of buses. If their salary dues for months of July, August and September are not paid, the employees would be forced to launch hunger strike before the divisional office of MSRTC, Ajay Hattewar informed.
