Nagpur, June 23

The work of filling up the potholes of the city should have been completed before the monsoon. But along with the NMC administration, the officials too ignored it. As soon as rains started, the problems surfaced.

Around 15 days after the onset of monsoon, mayor Dayashankar Tiwari called a meeting on Wednesday regarding the potholes of the city. Mayor Tiwari reprimanded the administration and said that complaints about potholes on roads are increasing. Along with the main roads, the condition of the internal roads has also become pathetic. Fill the potholes of the roads immediately and submit the report of the potholes filled within seven days along with the road information.

Deputy mayor Manisha Dhawade, Standing Committee chairman Prakash Bhoyar, ruling party leader Avinash Thakre, opposition leader Tanaji Wanve, superintendent engineer Ajay Pohekar, executive engineer Sonali Chavan etc. were present in the meeting held at NMC.

The mayor sought information about the zone wise potholes from the administration and said that the work of filling the potholes is of the hotmix department. But agencies have been appointed for that too. Apart from hotmix, a fund of `5 lakh has been arranged for the potholes of the zone in the budget. The potholes should be repaired using it. Take care of the potholes immediately by coordinating with corporators. The assistant commissioner should pay special attention on this.

‘Black list the contractors’

In many part of the city, there is a problem due to incomplete cement roads, which has been going on at many places. But even after two to three months the interlocking work was not done. Mayor Tiwari instructed that why the contractors should not be blacklisted, who are submitting bills, without completing the work? Wherever the work is going on, inspect it and fill the potholes. Contractors who are reluctant to fill the potholes, take action against them. Instructions were also given to repair the bad road from Cotton Market to Mokshadham.

‘Fill the potholes near

vaccination centres’

Vaccination has already started for all people above 18 years of age. The potholes in the road leading to the vaccination center should be filled up immediately. Crowds have started increasing at the centres. Apart from this, patchwork on accident spots should be done on priority
