Nagpur, Oct 19

After the delay of several months, standing committee chairman Pintu Zalke is going to present the proposed budget of 2020-21 on October 20. The budget meeting will be held online. The budget has been delayed due to Covid pandemic while on the other hand the financial situation of NMC also deteriorates. It will be clearly visible in the budget. There is indication that no new projects will be launched. For the last six months, the NMC income has been badly affected but NMC gets relief for getting increased GST grant of Rs 100.o5 crore instead of Rs 93.50 crore.

Former chairman Pradip Pohane had presented a budget of Rs 3197.60 crore for the year 2019-10. The ten NMC commissioner Tukaram Mundhe cut the budget size and presented a revised budget of Rs 2523.82 crore. This year, Zalke is finding it difficult to present budget at par with Pohane’s budget.

Zalke’s budget will include the work for which the work order has been issued, old projects. Attempt will be made to complete it. Zalke has also the challenge to implement the budget this year.

Zalke’s budget will also include third phase work of cement road, repair of roads, development of Prabhag, conservation of lakes, LED lights on new poles, DP Road, Budhwar Bazar, Orange City Street and other works. Zalke has already indicated that there would be no new project.
