The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is keeping a strict vigil on the marriage halls and other areas including party venues, where there are chances of mass people gathering. Penalties are being imposed on halls and party venues flouting norms. On Tuesday, six marriage halls and hotels were fined and Rs 1.89 lakhs were collected from them.

As per the orders of NMC commissioner Radhakrishnan B, action has been initiated against marriage halls, party venues, lawns, flouting Covid-19 norms. Around 267 lawns, marriage halls and other venues, where there are chances of crowd gathering have been inspected by Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) and fined.

Under the guidance of additional commissioner Ram Joshi, NDS chief Veersen Tambe has been executing the actions. On Friday actions were initiated against marriage halls and lawns, which included, two from Mangalwari, two from Lakadganj, one each from Laxmi Nagar and Dharampeth zone.

A fine of Rs25,000 was imposed on Chandramani Hall at Wardha Road, Hindustan Colony, Rs10,000 on Kusumtai Wankhede Hall at Ramdaspeth, Rs15,000 at Saath Vachan Lawn, Wardhmanagar, Rs 5,000 to Hotel Gomti situated at Pardi Square, Rs25,000 on Shyam Lawn at Gorewada Road and a fine of Rs25,000 was imposed on the KCR Lawn at Gorewada Road.
