Nagpur, May 4

The Maharashtra government has made the RT-PCR test report mandatory for three more states for air travellers arriving at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.

These include West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

It was already mandatory to bring RT-PCR report for air travellers from Kerala, Goa, Gujarat, Delhi, NCR and Rajasthan. Recently assembly elections were held in West Bengal, besides Gram Panchayat elections were held in Uttar Pradesh and Kumbh was held in Uttarakhand and across all the events, social distancing norms were royally ignored.

Taking into consideration the above events, the chief secretary Maharashtra has issued an order, making the RT-PCR report mandatory for the passengers flying in from the said states. The orders have been issued as the matter is sensitive.

In the relevant order, ‘Sensitive Origin’ has been mentioned. At present, direct flights are not being operated from Nagpur to Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata in West Bengal. Although passengers can reach Nagpur via Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

In this case also, it will be necessary to keep the RT-PCR reports with them. If the report is not brought along, the passengers will have to get RT-PCR test done at Nagpur airport and all passengers will be quarantined.
