Helpline Flooded With Calls in Ashok Kharat Case, SIT Intensifies Probe

 

 

 

In a major development in the widely popular fake godman Ashok Kharat case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the matter. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, senior officers of the Maharashtra Police are conducting daily reviews of the investigation.

 

In the initial phase, several women victims were hesitant to come forward and lodge complaints due to fear of social stigma, especially after objectionable videos involving women went viral. To address this, the police have been actively encouraging victims to step forward. Authorities are providing psychological support and assuring complete confidentiality of their identities.Based on the complaints received via the helpline, statements of around 40 individuals have been recorded as witnesses.

 

According to police sources, the helpline set up for the case is receiving around 5 to 6 calls daily against Ashok Kharat. A senior official revealed that within just 23 days, the helpline has received hundreds of calls, with a majority of complainants being women. The complaints include serious allegations such as cheating, coercion, breach of trust, and exploitation.

 

So far, a total of 15 cases have been registered against Ashok Kharat under various sections of law, out of which 8 cases are related to women. Based on the complaints received via the helpline, statements of around 40 individuals have been recorded as witnesses.

 

With the SIT now taking over the probe, all eyes are on the investigation to see what further revelations emerge in the coming days.
