Nashik: A massive blaze broke out on Wednesday May 6, morning at Star Mall triggering panic in surrounding areas. A visual shared by PTI shows thick layer of smoke is seen erupting from the mall's building. After fire, the evacuation efforts started immediately underway using firefighters' ladders, as several individuals remain trapped in the building. Authorities confirmed that no casualties have been reported.
As per the reports, fire in the basement of a complex gutted three parked vehicles, including an ambulance, and produced thick black smoke that alarmed occupants and nearby residents. Nashik Road fire brigade and Maharashtra Fire Services personnel responded with two fire tenders and an ambulance, containing the blaze to the vehicles. As a precaution, some patients from hospitals within the complex were moved to safer areas due to the smoke.
According to Inspector Jayant Shirsath, a full evacuation was unnecessary as the fire did not affect the building's structure. Fire officer Rajendra Sonawane stated that the fire department quickly controlled the situation within 30 minutes, preventing further damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
