The Haryana Police on Saturday said that it had arrested one person and seized 640 kg poppy husk from a truck in Jind district, valued at around Rs 22 lakh.

A police spokesman said the poppy husk concealed in 32 bags hidden under onion bags was seized by a team of the Sadar police station in Narwana.

Initial investigations found the contraband was being smuggled from Rajasthan. The truck driver and another person escaped, but a key accused was arrested.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the accused, who was remanded in police custody by a court.
