In a shocking incident, a 50-year old female was raped and murdered in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occured, when the deceased, went to perform pooja in a temple on Sunday evening. The post-mortem report confirms that an iron rod was inserted into her private parts. According to the autopsy, the woman's ribs were also broken and her left lung also suffered damage during the attack. The report attributed the woman's death to excessive bleeding and shock.

On a complaint from the woman's family, the police have booked three persons including a priest. Talking to media, the victim's son said his mother's body was dumped at their house in the night by three men including a priest, a driver. All three accused are still absconding. A senior police official of the district said they have formed four teams to nab the accused. Police have filed a case under relevant sections including 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code. The body was sent for post-mortem only on Monday,18 hours after the horrific incident and family members of the deceased have slammed the police for negligence on the incident.
