The new academic session for first-year under-graduate and post-graduate students is likely to begin from November 1, according to draft guidelines on the academic year prepared by University Grants Commission (UGC).

Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal on Tuesday took to Twitter and made an announcement.

"In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission has accepted the Report of the Committee and approved the @ugc_india Guidelines on Academic Calendar for the First Year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Students of the Universities for the Session 2020-21."

In another tweet he wrote,"To avoid financial hardship being faced by the parents due to lockdown and related factors, a full refund of fees will be made on account of all cancellation of admissions/ migration of students, up to 30.11.2020, for this very session as a special case."

"The UGC had earlier created an academic calendar that suggested that the admission process for the first year of Undergraduate and Post graduate students be completed by 31st August. For first year students it was proposed to start the academic session 2020-2021 from September 1, 2020. However, in view of the circumstanced, the commission has decided to issue a revised calendar,” the official quote said.
