Delhi Assembly Election 2025: Arvind Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Violent Tactics and Calls Out Police for Inaction (Watch Video)

AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday, accusing the BJP of resorting to "violent behavior" before the Assembly elections. In a press conference, Kejriwal mentioned that people were "beaten and thrashed," supporting his claims with multiple videos of these incidents. He referred to AAP leader Sanjay Singh's allegations that BJP supporters were attacking citizens, while he noted that the Delhi Police reportedly said they couldn't intervene due to "orders from higher authorities."

"Amit Shah has lost his composure; before elections, the BJP resorts to hooliganism. People are being assaulted, as reported in multiple videos. Sanjay Singh informed us that BJP goons attacked individuals, and when confronted, Delhi Police cited higher authority orders as their excuse for inaction. Moreover, the Delhi Police are filing false cases against victims instead of arresting the real culprits. I urge Delhi citizens to share their experiences with #AmitShahkiGundagardi and resist BJP's intimidation," he stated.

Kejriwal also wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner, expressing concern over the intimidation and harassment faced by AAP workers in the New Delhi Assembly constituency by BJP supporters and Delhi Police. In his letter, Kejriwal highlighted the unlawful detention, physical abuse, and wrongful charges against AAP volunteers, stating, "Our senior volunteer Chetan was illegally detained and booked under section 126 of BNSS, 2023, at Tilak Marg Police Station on false claims of prior cases against him. He was brutally abused to the point of fainting and required hospitalization. After significant efforts, he was eventually granted bail in a case where he was falsely accused."

Kejriwal accused the Delhi Police of systematically targeting AAP volunteers through arbitrary detentions and harassment, aiming to undermine the party's campaign and deter volunteers from participating in election activities. The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with vote counting on February 8. The Congress party, which previously held power in Delhi for 15 years, has faced defeats in the last two elections and has not secured any seats, while the AAP won 62 out of 70 seats in 2020, leaving the BJP with just eight.
