In a troubling turn of events, two First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed following the discovery of posters advocating for the boycott of the upcoming May 25 polling on the premises of Delhi University (DU). The posters, which surfaced in various locations across the campus, called for a boycott of the elections scheduled for May 25, citing unspecified grievances.
The emergence of these posters has sparked concern and debate among students, faculty, and authorities alike. While the exact origins of the posters remain unclear, their presence on the university grounds has prompted swift action from the administration. All seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital will poll in the penultimate phase on May 25 (Saturday).
Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch (BSCEM) claimed the responsibility for the slogans, such as "Ek hi raasta Naxalbari," written on the walls. The self-proclaimed youth organisation posted photos of the slogans on its Instagram page. Police said they noticed the slogans written in the area during morning patrolling on Thursday. "Accordingly, two FIRs under the Defacement Act have been registered," Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Manoj Kumar Meena said.
