Delhi Theft Case: Five Held for Rs 1 Crore Burglary, Jewellery and Cash Recovered
A theft case came to light from Delhi involving valuables worth around Rs 1 crore in east Delhi's Madhu Vihar area, arresting five people, including a goldsmith who allegedly received the stolen property. The case pertains to a burglary reported at Arya Nagar Apartment in the Madhu Vihar area earlier this month, he said.
On April 1, a person reported to the police that they had locked their house on the evening of March 31. When they returned the next day, they found the locks broken and that gold, diamond, and silver jewelry, as well as cash, were missing.
A 54-year-old woman was robbed of gold jewellery worth Rs 6.90 lakh while travelling on a PMP bus, in what appears to be a well-planned distraction theft. A case has been registered against an unidentified woman at the Wanwadi Police have registered. Victim is a resident of Umarga in Dharashiv district, was travelling from Hadapsar Gadital to Chinchwad around 10 AM on March 30.
According to reports, incident took place on Pune-Solapur Road near Vaiduwadi. Police said the accused created a diversion by pretending to vomit and intentionally bumping into the victim. Amid the confusion, the jewellery kept in the woman’s bag was stolen.
