Goa journalists' body issues advisory to media persons

A journalists' body in Goa in its advisory issued in wake of the COVID-19 scare, has urged media persons to maintain a distance of six feet from coronavirus suspects.

Panaji, March 20 A journalists' body in Goa in its advisory issued in wake of the COVID-19 scare, has urged media persons to maintain a distance of six feet from coronavirus suspects.

The Goa Union of Journalists' (GUJ) advisory also urges politic and newsmakers to use technology to convey their statements and bytes to the media via social media, instead of holding conventional media briefings.

"Journalists should try and avoid attending large gatherings and press conferences. Instead, journalists can request the concerned parties to send video message or an email. The GUJ also requests media houses to allow their field journalists to work from home and sanitise the work place on a regular basis," the advisory which was submitted to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday states.

"Journalists who have symptoms of fever, running nose and cough should avoid attending offices and news gathering, and must work from home at least for two weeks and maintain six feet distance from coronavirus suspects during coverage," it states.
