A man in Hyderabad murdered his live-in partner and cut her body into pieces with a stone cutting machine to dispose them at different places. The accused had preserved the legs and hands of the victim in a refrigerator in his house and was spraying disinfectants and perfumes to avoid foul smell in the vicinity. The shocking crime came to light on Thursday after Hyderabad police solved the mystery behind a severed head found near the Musi river in the city. The case has similarities with the Shradda Walker and Nikki Yadav murder cases of Delhi in which the accused had stored body parts of the victims in refrigerators to dispose of them. The accused, identified as B. Chandra Mohan was arrested on Wednesday.

"On May 17, we received a complaint from a GHMC worker informing that at a garbage dumping place opposite Afzal Nagar Community Hall, near Musi river, beside Theegalguda road, he found one head of an unidentified woman in a black cover," DCP South East zone CH Rupesh said. During the investigation, police managed to identify the deceased and tracked down the murderer using CCTV and other evidence.According to the police, the woman, Y Anuradha Reddy, was the live-in partner of the accused, Mohan, an unmarried online stock trader. Police said that the 55-year-old man, who was separated from her husband long back, was involved in short-term money lending locally. She became close to Mohan some years ago and started living with him at his house in Chaitanyapuri colony in Dilsukhnagar.

Since 2018 the accused took a huge amount, nearly Rs. 7 lakhs, from the deceased but did not return the amount despite repeated requests by her. According to the police, Mohan hatched the plan to kill Anuradha after she insisted on getting her money back. Police said that the accused killed the woman on May 12 in a pre-planned event."As per the plan, on May 12, in the afternoon, the accused picked up a quarrel with the deceased on the issue of paying her amount and attacked her with a knife and inflicted stab injuries over her chest and stomach, as a result of which she died on the spot," the police said. What followed was similar to the murder of Shraddha Walkar by her live-in partner in Delhi. Mohan purchased two stone-cutting machines to dismember and dispose of the body." After that, the accused purchased two stone cutting machines in order to dispose of the body and beheaded the head from the trunk and kept it in a black polythene cover. He then separated the legs, and hands from the trunk by cutting with a stone cutting machine and preserved the legs and hands in the fridge while the trunk was kept in a suitcase for disposal," the DCP said.

Three days later, on May 15, the accused took the severed head of the deceased, disposed of it in the dumping place and went away. After that, the accused brought Phenyl, Dettol, Perfume Agarbatti, Karpuram and perfume spray bottles and regularly applied them over the body parts of the deceased to avoid spreading of bad smell in the vicinity. The accused also used the deceased's cell phone and sent messages to her known persons to make them believe that she was alive and staying somewhere.
