Jharkhand: Man Arrested For Allegedly Killing Wife After Drunken Fight
A shocking incident of crime reported in Jharkhand, where a 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife under the influence of alcohol, while having a fight. This incident occurred on Thursday May 14, 2026 in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, police said.
The accused identified as Charan Mahli allegedly kicked and punched his second wife, Reena Machua (32), during a quarrel on Wednesday night. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Manoharpur) Jaydeep Lakra said Mahli had separated from his first wife following disputes and was living with Machua in a temporary shed at Manoharpur Market.
Meanwhile man allegedly shot dead his sister-in-law in, he later shot himself in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district around 9:30 am on Wednesday May 13 inside a locked room at the in-laws' house. The panic trigged after gunshots were heard, officials said. According to PTI reports, Jitendra Prasad, from Dharamchak village, Gopalganj district, Bihar, arrived at his in-laws' house in Basdila Buzurg village under Taryasujan police station limits on Tuesday evening.
Police report that Jitendra, who married Shambhu Prajapati's daughter approximately 11 months ago, allegedly shot his 18-year-old sister-in-law, Naina Kumari, before taking his own life Wednesday morning. After spending the night at the Prajapati residence, he called Naina to his room, where the shooting occurred. The sound of gunfire caused panic, and family members found the room locked.
Locals who gathered at the scene alerted police after looking through a window. Police from Tamkuhiraj station, along with senior officers and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Akanksha Mishra, arrived, forced entry, and secured the scene. A forensic team was called in, and police took custody of the bodies after completing legal procedures.
