Joseph Vijay, who is set to take charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, arrived at Nehru Stadium wearing a white full-sleeved shirt and black trousers. He will take oath as the Chief Minister today, May 10, at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Governor RN Ravi Arlekar has asked Vijay to prove his majority by May 13.
Along with Vijay, nine others will also take the oath as ministers today. Pussy Anand, Adhav Arjuna, Arunraj, KA Sengottaiyan, P. Venkataramanan, Nirmal Kumar, Rajmohan, DK Prabhu and Keerthana will be sworn in.
It is customary for Chief Ministers to take the oath wearing a dhoti and a shirt. However, Vijay broke the convention by opting for a white shirt and black trousers.
However, dress is a personal choice, and Vijay chose this style for the occasion. He was welcomed at the stadium by Tamil Nadu DGP Sandeep Rai Rathore, Chief Secretary N. Sai Kumar and other officials.

Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister and ministers have been underway at the Nehru Indoor Stadium since last night. Vijay is scheduled to take oath as Chief Minister at 10 am today, with Governor Arlekar administering the oath.
The Governor will begin the oath of office in English with “I”, following which Vijay will recite it in Tamil, beginning with “I, C. Joseph Vijay”. Similarly, the Governor will begin the oath of secrecy, which Vijay will continue in Tamil.
Vijay’s fans and TVK supporters have been waiting a long time to hear these words from him, and their moment is set to come true today. After Vijay, the ministers will also take the oath of office and secrecy.
Vijay’s mother, Shobha and father, Chandrasekhar, have arrived for the ceremony. However, his wife, Sangeeta and children were not present. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has also been invited to the event.
Meanwhile, Vijay’s strength in the Assembly has reportedly increased to 120 with the support of Congress (5), VVIP (2), CPI (2), CPI(M) (2) and IUML (2).
