Gir Somnath, May 11 Crowds gathered in Gir Somnath on Monday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled through the district in a roadshow en route to the Somnath Temple, with supporters lining the route and several displays prepared to welcome him.

Among those present was a supporter known locally as 'Junior Bachchan', Pinakin Gohil from Bhavnagar, who attracted attention by carrying a large decorative replica of the Somnath Temple during the procession.

Gohil, who works in the entertainment field, came along the roadshow route as the Prime Minister travelled towards the temple complex.

The replica he carried included several symbolic elements. It depicted Prime Minister Modi alongside his late mother Heeraba and incorporated imagery of the Statue of Unity associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

It also featured references to Hamirji Gohil, historically linked in regional accounts to the defence of Somnath.

Speaking to those present, Gohil said his participation was intended as a mark of respect during the ongoing 'Amrut Parv' celebrations at Somnath.

He noted the scale of public turnout at the temple site and along the roadshow route. “A large number of people have gathered in Somnath for the Amrut Parv celebrations, and devotees are taking part enthusiastically in the programmes, including the rituals at the temple,” he said.

He further remarked on the Prime Minister’s public engagement, stating that Narendra Modi was contributing to India’s national profile and development.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is enhancing the pride of the country internationally and has taken India forward on the path of progress while carrying everyone together,” Gohil said.

He also encouraged devotees and visitors to travel to Somnath for darshan at the shrine.

The roadshow drew large crowds throughout its route, with residents and visitors assembling on both sides of the road to view the convoy.

The events formed part of wider activities linked to the Amrut Parv celebrations at the Somnath temple complex, which have seen continued public participation in Gir Somnath district.
