A 27-year-old man dies after his motorcycle plunged into an open pit in Idukki district, Kerala. This incident occurred on Monday night February 16, 2026. The open open pit dug for culvert construction without proper fencing or reflective signage. Deceased identified as Jeyce Benny, a resident of Muthalakodam. CCTV footage of this incident has gone viral on social media. Locals are blaming negligence of the public works authorities for the young man's death.
According to FPJ this incident occurred at around 11 pm near Muthalakodam, Thodupuzha. Benny was riding his motorcycle when he encountered an excavation site. He had an accident and was rushed to the hospital, but he died from his injuries. The excavation site, a pit dug across the road for a new culvert, reportedly lacked adequate warning signs, barricades, or lighting to warn drivers at night. Benny was supposed to fly overseas for work the next day.

In a tragic road accident, five youths lost their lives after an overspeeding Tata Indica crossed the divider and collided head-on with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus near Post Office Palya under the Madanayakanahalli Police Station limits. Local authorities confirmed there were no survivors in the mangled vehicle.
The accident occurred around 11:30 pm within the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli police where the investigators stated that an Indica, traveling from Tumakuru toward Bengaluru, lost control and struck the right-side median on the flyover. The force of the collision caused the car to overturn twice before it slammed into an oncoming KSRTC bus.
