Lalu Prasad Yadav's health condition worsens, to be shifted in Delhi for better treatment

On the wake of his deteriorating health condition, jailed RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav is likely to be shifted to AIIMS Delhi for better treatment.Meanwhile, the eight-member medical board, constituted to review the health condition of the RJD chief and submit a report, is currently holding a meeting at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).The decision of the medical board will be sent to the Jail IG who will take the final decision on the basis of the report submitted by it after taking approval from the court. Internal sources claimed that he might be shifted to AIIMS on Saturday itself. The RJD chief, who is a chronic hypertension, diabetes, heart and kidney patient, had complained of breathing problems on Thursday following which he underwent a COVID-19 test which was found to be negative. 

Yadav also underwent high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) which indicated a lung infection.The doctors taking care of Yadav had claimed earlier that his condition is alarming and he may be put on dialysis as only 25 per cent of his kidney remains functional.After being convicted by a Special CBI Court in Ranchi on December 23, 2017 in the second fodder scam case involving the illegal withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from Deoghar treasury, the 72-year-old RJD chief was lodged in Birsa Munda Central jail in Ranchi but was shifted to RIMS on August 29, 2018, due to his deteriorating health condition.Yadav, so far, has been convicted in four out of the five cases in connection with the multi-crore fodder scam. These relate to the Chaibasa Treasury (RC20A/96) on September 30, 2013, another Chaibasa Treasury case (RC68A/96) on January 24, 2018, Deoghar Treasury (RC 64A/96) on February 23, 2018 and Dumka Treasury (RC38A/96) on February 19.
