The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and some state assembly polls at its Press Conference, which will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow, March 16. The event will be live-streamed on the ECI's official social media platforms, said the ECI.

The announcement will set the stage for the political battle between the parties in which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government is hoping for 300 'paar' in the third term, while the Opposition Congress-led INDIA alliance are hopeful of making a dent in the NDA’s predicted win.

The poll schedule announcement will be made by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar with two newly elected Commissioners Gyanendra Kumar and Sukbir Singh Sandhu at a press conference in Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi at 3 PM.

Earlier on Friday, ECI formally welcomed Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, the newly appointed election commissioners. They are the first members appointed under the new law for chief election commissioners and ECs.

In 2019, the Election Commission had announced the General Election poll dates on March 10. It is also expected the EC will announce the Assembly polls for Jammu and Kashmir. However, it is not immediately clear.
