Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress Leader Suresh Pachouri, Ex-MP Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi To Join BJP

Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Suresh Pachouri, along with ex-MP Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi, are set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.

Pachouri, previously associated closely with the Gandhi family, held the position of Union Minister of State for Defence (Defence Production and Supplies) and served as a four-time Rajya Sabha member for the Congress.

Meanwhile, Rajukhedi, a notable tribal leader, secured three terms as an MP from the Dhar (Scheduled Tribes) constituency on the Congress ticket. Sources note that although he was elected as a BJP MLA in 1990, Rajukhedi later shifted allegiance to the Congress.

The news of Suresh Pachouri and Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) follows recent speculations regarding the potential switch of another Congress veteran, Kamal Nath, to the BJP. However, the Congress leadership in the state swiftly addressed these speculations, confirming them to be mere rumors. They reiterated Kamal Nath's commitment to the Congress party, affirming that he remains and will continue to be associated with the Congress.
