Luxury Obsession and Mounting Debt: Dark Secrets Behind Rahul Meena’s Role in the Delhi IRS Officer’s Daughter Murder Case

In a shocking case from Delhi’s Amar Colony, police have arrested 22-year-old Rahul Meena from Alwar in Rajasthan for allegedly raping and murdering the daughter of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer. Once a bright student who had scored 90 percent in Class 12 and brought pride to his family, Rahul now finds himself in police custody facing grave charges. Preliminary investigations suggest that a combination of online gaming addiction, mounting debt, and an obsession with a lavish lifestyle played a crucial role in pushing him towards the crime, revealing a disturbing transformation from a promising youth to an accused criminal.

Rahul Meena, a resident of Rajgarh in Alwar district, was known for his academic abilities during his school years. His cousin said he was exceptionally intelligent and performed well in studies, scoring 73 percent in Class 10 and an impressive 90 percent in the science stream in Class 12. However, his life reportedly took a negative turn due to excessive use of mobile phones and addiction to online gaming. What began as a casual engagement gradually became a consuming habit, affecting his focus, discipline, and long-term goals, ultimately derailing a once promising academic journey.

Rahul also developed an intense fascination with luxury cars and an extravagant lifestyle. He frequently shared photos and reels on social media showcasing expensive vehicles and projecting a high-end life. In pursuit of this dream, he reportedly sought shortcuts to earn quick money and became deeply involved in online Ludo games. Back in his village, he spent long hours gambling with friends, often wagering money and eventually losing lakhs of rupees. This reckless behavior worsened his financial condition and pushed him further into a cycle of loss and desperation.

His financial troubles deepened as debts piled up and pressure from lenders increased. Rahul’s father worked in the office of the victim’s father, which helped him secure a job at the IRS officer’s residence. However, he allegedly misused this opportunity by misappropriating money and failing to repay borrowed amounts, leading to his dismissal. Constant harassment from creditors and anger over losing his job are believed to have contributed to his mental state. Investigators suspect that these factors, combined with an urgent need for money, may have driven him to commit the crime.

About a month and a half ago, Rahul returned to his village, but later suddenly traveled to Delhi. Police are still trying to determine whether his intention was theft or revenge. On the day of the incident, he was apprehended from a hotel in Delhi and taken into custody. He has been remanded to four days of police custody, during which authorities are interrogating him to uncover further details and establish the sequence of events that led to the brutal crime.
