To celebrate Maha Shivratri this year, the Akhara procession reached Kashi Vishwanath Temple this morning. Devotees were heard chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Har Har Shambu’ on arrival at the temple.

Early on the morning of Mahashivratri, a sizable contingent of devotees assembled to see Mangala Aarti and seek Lord Shiva's darshan. Since sunrise until now, the chorus of Har Har Mahadev has reverberated throughout the entire region.
Earlier in the day the devotees were welcomed with a shower of rose petals at the temple. Sharing the video on social media platform X, the temple trust wrote, “"Rain of faith from the sky" on the devotees who came for darshan at Shri Kashi Vishnathdham on the holy festival of Mahashivratri || Srikashi Vishwanath Vijayatet Ram ||”
The Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri represents the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Meditation and spiritual development are encouraged throughout this night of waking. It celebrates Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's marriage.
