Meerut: 168-Year-Old Mosque Demolished Near Jagdish Mandap on Delhi Road with Mutual Consent

A 168-year-old mosque situated on Delhi Road, near Jagdish Mandap in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district, was demolished on Friday night, February 21, in mutual consent between the Muslim community and government officials. According to the news agency IANS, the mosque committee tried to dismantle it during the day, but the administration using bulldozers at night demolished it.

The mosque was demolished in the presence of NCRTC and police officials due to the construction work of Namo Bharat Rapid. The masjid's electricity was disconnected days before the demolition was planned, and the community had requested compensation and a replacement mosque.

168-Year-Old Mosque Demolished in UP

Officials say that due to work during the day, there could have been a jam on the busy Delhi Road. Due to this, demolition work was started at night, around 1.30 am.
