Meghalaya’s lone Covid-19 positive patient, a 69-year-old doctor, passed away early on Wednesday. He passed away at Bethany Hospital in Shillong. Confirming the report, Meghalaya Health minister AL Hek said the patient passed away at around 2 am."We have already sealed the Bethany Hospital and all other patients, doctors, nurses and other health workers are being quarantined," he said.

The 69-year-old senior doctor of Bethany Hospital was tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.This is the second death case due to Covid-19 in the entire Northeast region. Earlier, a Covid-19 positive patient from Assam’s Hailakandi district had died.A total of 40 positive Covid-19 cases have been reported from the Northeast region so far. Recently, the first patient from Manipur was discharged from the hospital and she was recovered from the dreaded virus. Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma confirmed the news on his Twitter.
