Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Prompts Citywide Traffic Restrictions — Check Affected Routes and Diversions

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, India’s first bullet train project, is advancing rapidly, but residents in Ahmedabad are currently dealing with heavy traffic disruptions caused by ongoing construction. As part of the large-scale infrastructure work, several roads and flyovers across the city have been partially or completely closed. The Ahmedabad City Police have issued fresh notifications detailing these restrictions to ensure smooth construction of bridge segments and bullet train station pillars. The affected areas include major connecting routes that witness high commuter traffic, resulting in slower movement and longer travel times during peak hours.

One of the major impacted stretches is between Sabarmati and Vatva, which will remain partially closed until November 15, 2025, for the installation of bridge segments near Cadila Bridge. During this time, the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor will stay non-operational, though normal vehicular movement will be permitted at night on unaffected lanes. Similarly, in the Saraspur area, a 500-meter stretch between RC Technical Institute and Faizan School has been shut for three months to facilitate the construction of a bullet train station pillar. Authorities have rolled out diversion routes and requested residents to follow advisories and plan their journeys in advance.

Officials have reassured the public that despite temporary disruptions, the Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project is progressing as planned, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and long-term infrastructure durability. Once completed, the high-speed rail network will significantly cut travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, improving regional connectivity and promoting trade and tourism. Authorities have urged citizens to stay updated on the latest traffic notifications to minimize inconvenience and cooperate during this crucial phase of development.
