Srinagar, June 19 Pakistan on Friday resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K's Kupwara district, a defence official said.

Defence ministry spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara in the evening.

"They fired mortars and other weapons. Befitting reply is being given."

This is the second ceasefire violation by Pakistan on Friday.

Earlier in the morning, Pakistan violated ceasefire on the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri.

Defence Ministry spokesperson, Colonel Devender Anand said: "At about 10.45 a.m., Pakistan initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars along the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

"Indian army is retaliating befittingly."

On Thursday, Pakistan violated bilateral ceasefire in the Naugam sector of Kupwara and Sunderbani sector of Rajouri.

Since the India-China tensions on the LAC in eastern Ladakh, Pakistan has being violating the bilateral ceasefire on a daily basis.
