Path towards 'Viksit Bharat 2047' will pass through West Bengal: Jyotiraditya Scindia

Bagdogra (West Bengal), May 14 Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Thursday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal will ensure that the path towards 'Viksit Bharat 2047' passes through the state.

Union Minister Scindia was on his way to Sikkim on a three-day official visit from May 14 to 16.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, the Union Minister said: "A historic change has been brought into West Bengal under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Home Minister Amit Shah's guidance, and the contribution of the new Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari."

He expressed gratitude to the voters in Bengal for placing their trust on the BJP.

"I believe that the path towards 'Viksit Bharat 2047' will also go through West Bengal," he asserted.

Scindia added: "This change in Bengal is for the purpose of development, which will be led by Chief Minister Adhikari."

Asked about his visit to Sikkim, the Union Minister said that the Northeastern states are assured of development under PM Modi's leadership.

"Whether it is in terms of energy or per capita income, Sikkim is a lot ahead," he added.

The Union Minister said that foundation stone laying and inauguration of several developmental projects will be undertaken during his visit.

Referring to PM Modi's visit to the state on Sikkim's Statehood Day, Scindia said: "Projects worth Rs 4,000 crore were initiated by the Prime Minister."

He mentioned that Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to visit Sikkim on May 16.

During his visit to Sikkim, Scindia will participate in the Statehood Day celebrations and review a series of developmental initiatives and infrastructure projects across the Himalayan state, officials said on Thursday.

According to officials, Union Minister Scindia has decided to keep the accompanying convoy strength, number of vehicles and officials to the minimum required during the tour, in line with Prime Minister Modi's emphasis on fuel saving measures and minimising unnecessary expenses, efficiency and responsible public expenditure in view of the prevailing global scenario.

Scindia, who holds the Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) portfolios, will join Vice-President Radhakrishnan during the Statehood Day celebrations in Gangtok.
