Punjab: Four-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped in Broad Daylight Amid Custody Dispute in Mohali

A shocking kidnapping incident involving a four-year-old girl took place in broad daylight in Punjab’s Mohali, allegedly linked to an ongoing family dispute over child custody. According to reports, the child was abducted outside her paternal residence shortly after returning home from school with her grandparents. The girl’s father, who works as a teacher at a government school, accused his estranged wife of masterminding the abduction. The entire episode created panic in the neighbourhood, with residents stunned by the manner in which the kidnappers carried out the operation in a busy residential area during daytime hours in full public view.

The kidnapping was caught on CCTV cameras installed outside the family’s residence. The footage reportedly showed the little girl arriving on a scooter with her grandparents after school. As the grandmother stepped away to unlock the gate, two men riding a motorcycle suddenly approached and tried to snatch the child from her grandfather. A struggle immediately broke out between the elderly couple and the attackers. Moments later, a white sedan arrived at the spot, and several men stepped out to assist the bikers. Despite the grandparents’ desperate efforts to stop them, the accused forcibly pushed the child into the car and escaped from the area.

Hearing the grandparents’ cries for help, several local residents rushed towards the scene in an attempt to rescue the girl. Two men even chased the fleeing vehicle, but the abductors managed to escape successfully. Following the incident, the child’s father publicly blamed his wife for the kidnapping, claiming that the couple has been fighting a legal battle over custody of their daughter. He alleged that his wife, along with his mother-in-law and a man identified as Sandeep Kumar, was involved in planning the abduction. The father urged authorities to conduct a detailed investigation and ensure strict action against everyone connected to the shocking crime.
