Rohini Blast: Security Tightened Across Delhi After Crude Bomb Explosion Outside CRPF School

Delhi Police and central agencies are on high alert after a crude bomb exploded outside the CRPF School in Rohini, Sector 14, around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. While no injuries were reported, security agencies have been directed to bolster safety measures across the Capital, particularly with the festive season in progress, officials familiar with the situation said.

Delhi Police’s special cell, along with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and bomb squads, are actively investigating the case. Amit Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini), stated that the area has been cordoned off, and security has been heightened in public places and markets with increased police deployment.

Police are investigating a potential Khalistani link to the explosion after a social media post claimed the blast was in retaliation for the alleged targeting of pro-Khalistan separatists by Indian agents. According to sources in Delhi Police, the device was a low-intensity IED (Improvised Explosive Device) controlled by a timer or remote, and did not contain shrapnel or ball bearings.

It is suspected that the perpetrators wanted to send a message to the authorities, a senior police officer told PTI. After the explosion, teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Delhi Police cordoned off the area and forensic experts collected samples from the site.

Police and witnesses reported that the explosion, captured on a CCTV camera, destroyed part of the CRPF School wall, shattered windowpanes of nearby shops, and damaged several cars parked in the vicinity. The blast’s sound was heard several hundred meters away. Police suspect the bomb may have been placed late at night, with locals noting it went off between 7:35 and 7:40 a.m. The incident follows a string of bomb threats recently sent to multiple airlines.
