As per media reports, NCP chief Sharad Pawar will soon replace Sonia Gandhi as UPA (United Progressive Alliance) chairperson.

Discussions regarding the same have aready taken place. Sonia Gandhi had stepped down last time as Congress president but continued as UPA chairperson and also the leader of parliamentary party, this time her retirement is set to be complete. And hence, likely to step down from the post of UPA chairperson.

If sources are to be believed, Sonia Gandhi’s reluctance to continue in the top job has been evident for a while and she is hopeful that her replacement will be found soon, and Pawar is the man likely for the job. Rahul Gandhi has also refused to succeed his mother as UPA Chairperson. 

The Congress will hold elections early next year to select a new president. 

As per sources, Rahul Gandhi will be the face of the UPA but Sharad Pawar will be the chairman of UPA, being its senior-most leader.
