India is currently dealing with a devastating second Covid-19 wave that has swept through the nation, crushing the country's health infrastructure and overburdening frontline medical workers.

A heartbreaking incident has taken place in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Gregory Raymond Raphael and wife Soja, who live in the city, lost their twin children due to Covid.

Unfortunately, the twins died on the same day. Recently, the two celebrated their 24th birthday.

24-year-old son Joefred Varghese Gregory had passed away due to Covid. Joefred’s twin Ralphred was at the same hospital battling for his life, and the parents say when they talked to him, Ralphred immediately sensed something was wrong.

The twins identified as Jofred Verghese Gregory and Ralfred George Gregory developed fever on April 23. As the number of corona patients in Meerut was increasing, their home area was declared a containment zone. At the time, Raymond was treating both of his children at home. They thought that both of them would recover from the fever. But that did not happen. But when their oxygen levels dropped below 90, doctors advised them to be taken to a hospital. Both were admitted to a private hospital on May 1. The corona report of both came positive. But after a few days of treatment, another RTPCR report came back negative.

On May 10, after the two tested negative, the parents were hopeful. “Three days later, our world came crashing… When Joefred died, I had a sixth sense that Ralphred would not make it. Simply because they were inseparable.” Both died of corona infections on May 13 and 14 last week. Jofred Verghese Gregory and Ralfred George Gregory were born on April 23, 1997.

Gregory Raymond is saddened by the loss of two young children. As a teacher, I struggled to support my children. Before their deaths, they were both planning to move to Korea. I also wanted to go to Germany for work. But the father of these children reacted helplessly by saying that he did not think that God would punish me so severely by taking my children away from me.The two even pursued B Tech together from Karunya University in Coimbatore, and in their final year, secured placements. While Joefred worked in Accenture Pvt Ltd, Ralphred was with Hyundai Mubis Company.
