However, the visitors' efforts went in vain as India, led by a captain's knock by Virat Kohli, surpassed the target with six wickets and eight balls to spare.

Lewis set the tone when he started the game with a four and a six off Washington Sundar. Lewis' 40 came off just 17 deliveries and was studded with three fours and four sixes. He found good support in debutant Brandon King who scored 31 off 23 balls (4x3, 6x1).

Lewis will be available for the upcoming IPL auctions along with King, who was the leading run-scorer in the CPL with 496 runs in just 12 innings.

Twitterati hailed Lewis and Kings' quickfire knocks and also hinted at them as the big picks in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions.

A user commnented, "Evin Lewis and Brandon king both are in IPL AUCTION which is going to be conducted on 19th december and they are dealing with boundaries."

Another post read, "In a space of 40 minutes, both Bandon King and Evin Lewis have ensured an IPL contract."

"Hey @mipaltan I hope you have already planned for bringing Evin Lewis back to the squad. That was a crisp but terrific knock," added another.

A user remarked, "This is the series to impress the IPL franchises, Brandon King was the leading run scorer of this year's CPL and great time to showcase his skills against India."
