Uttar Pradesh Horror: Woman Killed by Husband for Going to the Gym; Accused Arrested

A shocking incident of crime has came to light were a woman was allegedly killed by husband for being fit and going to gym.  This henious act of crime has occurred in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, husband bludgeoned his wife to death using an iron rod. Following the murder, the accused husband sat beside his wife's corpse for a staggering seven hours. The incident took place in the 'Double Phatak' area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Katghar Police Station in Moradabad.

The accused husband, Shobhit Gupta, runs a scrap business. His wife, Poonam Gupta, was health-conscious and visited the gym daily. However, Shobhit strongly disapproved of Poonam's gym visits, and this issue frequently became a source of friction between the couple. On Thursday morning, when Poonam returned home from the gym, another heated argument erupted between the two over this very subject. The dispute escalated to such an extreme level that, in a fit of rage, Shobhit grabbed an iron handle used for opening the shop shutter and struck Poonam forcefully on the head. She died on the spot.

After murdering his wife, Shobhit didn't ran away; instead, he remained seated beside her corpse for seven long hours. When their young daughter returned home from school in the afternoon, her father gave no indication of what had transpired; he simply sent her to another room under a pretext. Later that evening, he himself called the police and provided false information, claiming his wife was merely injured, in an attempt to stage the incident as an accident.

Upon arrival, the 'Dial 112' police found the body on the bed, raising their suspicion. After rigorous interrogation, the husband, Shobhit, confessed to the crime. Meanwhile, the deceased's brother and relatives allege that Poonam was subjected to constant harassment by her in-laws, claiming this was not just a dispute over the gym. They further allege a previous attempt to kill her by forcing her to ingest powdered glass, causing cuts to her tongue and cheeks. The family claims other members of the in-laws' household were involved in the incident along with the husband. Police have arrested Shobhit, and further investigation is underway.
