Uttar Pradesh: Man Allegedly Kills Sister-in-Law, Then Shoots Himself; Police Probe On

In shocking turn of events, a man allegedly shot dead his sister-in-law in, he later shot himself.  This incident Wednesday May 13 in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district around 9:30 am inside a locked room at the in-laws' house. The panic trigged after gunshots were heard, officials said. According to PTI reports, Jitendra Prasad, from Dharamchak village, Gopalganj district, Bihar, arrived at his in-laws' house in Basdila Buzurg village under Taryasujan police station limits on Tuesday evening.

Police reported that Jitendra married Shambhu Prajapati's daughter approximately 11 months ago. After staying overnight at their house following dinner, he allegedly called his 18-year-old sister-in-law, Naina Kumari, to his room Wednesday morning. The two locked themselves inside, where Jitendra allegedly shot Naina before taking his own life. The sound of gunfire triggered panic, and family members discovered the room was locked. Locals who gathered at the scene alerted police after looking through a window.

The sound of gunfire triggered panic, and family members discovered the room was locked. Locals who gathered at the scene alerted police after looking through a window. Police from Tamkuhiraj station, along with senior officers and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Akanksha Mishra, arrived and forced entry. A forensic team was called in, and police took the bodies into custody after completing legal procedures.

Police suspect a love affair as the motive and are investigating the circumstances.
