A total of 126 athletes across 18 sports disciplines from India will be heading to Tokyo to represent the country at the Olympics which begins from July 23. The total strength of the Indian contingent including coaches and staff counts to 227. This is the biggest-ever contingent India is sending to any Olympics. A number of debutants also made the cut for the coveted event, the notable name being Bhavani Devi, who is the first Indian fencer to qualify for the Olympics. Nethra Kumanan is the first-ever female sailor from India to qualify for the Olympics, while Sajan Prakash and Srihari Nataraj are the first swimmers from India to qualify for Olympic games by achieving the "A" qualification standard in swimming.
