29-year-old Vikas Krishnan on Saturday lost his round of 32 match in the men's welterweight boxing event here in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics and as a result, he has bowed out of the mega event.

29-year-old Vikas Krishnan on Saturday lost his round of 32 match in the men's welterweight boxing event here in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics and as a result, he has bowed out of the mega event.

Japan's Mensah Okazawa defeated Krishnan 5-0 in the round of 32 match here at the Kokugikan Arena.

In Round 1, all five judges gave 10 points to Japan's Okazawa while Krishnan got 9 points from all five judges and as a result, the Indian boxer was trailing.

The same fate followed in Round 2, and by the end, Krishnan was left with a humongous task in the third and final round.

Krishnan was not able to outclass his Japanese opponent in Round 3 and as a result, he had to bow out of Tokyo Olympics.

On Sunday, pugilists Mary Kom and Manish Kaushik will be in action.
