"One of the toughest decisions": Barkha Bisht and Indraneil Sengupta confirm divorce after 15 years of marriage

Actors Barkha Sengupta and Indraneil Sengupta were once considered one of the most loved couples in the entertainment industry. Hiowever, their love story soon went kaput with the couple going separate ways in 2021.

Barkha was living separately with her daughter after Indraneil moved out. There were rumours of Indraneil's proximity with one of her co-stars as the reason behind the couple's split.

Earlier, when reports of conflict in their marriage surfaced, Barkha and Indraneil had said that they were just rumours.

Indraneil also said that they were doing absolutely fine and brushed the rumours. However, recently ETimes confirmed that Barkha and Indraneil’s divorce will come through soon. Barkha was quoted saying, “Yes, our divorce should come through soon. This has been one of the toughest decisions of my life.”

Barkha has been married to Indraneil for more than ten years and the couple has an 11-year-old daughter, Meira Sengupta.

The couple met on the sets of Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, and got married in 2008. The news of their separation made headlines in early 2021.

While the reason for their split is still unknown, Barkha shared that work and her daughter, Meira continue to be her priority. Talking about the professional front, she shared, “I have been doing interesting projects in the OTT space. I am open to good projects in TV and film too.”

Barkha Bisht made her acting debut in the Television industry with Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi and went on to do TV shows such as Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai and Chandragupta Maurya, to name a few.

Barkha Bisht has also worked in movies such as Raajneeti, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, PM Narendra Modi, Ami Shubhash Bolchi and more.

Indraneil Sengupta was a finalist of the 1999 Gladrags Manhunt Contest in which John Abraham was the winner. He modelled for designer Rohit Bal and worked for choreographers Marc Robinson and Achala Sachdev. He also appeared in commercials for the Tata Indigo Marina car, VIP Frenchie and Aquafina. In 2004, he starred in the film Shukriya: Till Death Do Us Apart which also starred Aftab Shivdasani, Shriya Saran and Anupam Kher. He was to act in the movie Dus but the project got shelved.In 2008, he played the negative role of Mohan Kanta, a British Indian army man who betrays his revolting pro-independence military regiment in the horror film 1920, written and directed by Vikram Bhatt.
