Coronavirus: Tips to follow while travelling in passenger trains from May 12

Indian Railways has decided to resume passenger trains from May 12 amid ongoing lockdown in the country to prevent coronavirus infection.

Initially, only 15 pairs of trains (30 rounds) will run between 15 stations, the railway department said in a statement on Sunday.

These trains will connect Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, Jammu Tawi from New Delhi station.

Train ticket bookings will begin at 4pm on Monday (May 11). Importantly, tickets for these trains can only be booked from the IRCTC website.

It is mandatory for all passengers to wear masks while traveling by train. Passengers without masks will not be allowed to travel. Handkerchiefs and scarves can be used to cover the face.

Arrive at the train station about an hour or two early before traveling. Passengers will be screened. Screening at the point of departure is mandatory.

Citizens with coronavirus symptoms are not allowed to travel. Do not book a ticket even if you have a slight fever or are not feeling well.

It is mandatory for all passengers traveling by train to download Arogya Setu app in their mobile. There will be no boarding without it.

Ticket booking counters at railway stations will be closed. Therefore, passengers will not be able to get tickets for these trains from the ticket booking counters at the stations.

Only passengers who have valid confirmed tickets will be admitted to the railway station. Only passengers with confirmed tickets can travel by train.

Special trains will not stop at any place other than the given stop.

All special trains will be run with AC coaches. There will be no general in this train.

The railways will also run special trains on some other routes. However, this depends on the coaches available. Because 20,000 coaches are reserved as Corona Care Centers.

The Railway Department also said in a statement that it has a large reserve of coaches to run 300 trains a day as a 'labor special'.
