At least eight people were injured after a mini bus overturned near Monkey Hill in the Bhor Ghat section of the old Mumbai-Pune National Highway on Wednesday. The accident occurred near Battery Point, close to the HOC Bridge area above the Amrutanjan Bridge, while the vehicle was travelling downhill from Khandala towards Khopoli. The incident caused panic among commuters and locals in the area, who immediately rushed to the spot to assist the injured passengers and help those trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
Soon after receiving information about the mishap, rescue teams from IRB, private ambulance services, and local volunteers reached the accident site and launched relief operations. The injured passengers were given first aid before being shifted to the Khopoli Municipal Hospital for treatment. According to preliminary information, six to seven passengers sustained minor injuries in the accident, while the condition of the other injured persons is believed to be stable. The accident also briefly affected traffic movement along the ghat route during the rescue operation.

Officials said all the injured passengers are residents of the Shelke Pada area in Murbad. The accident took place within the jurisdiction of the Khopoli Police Station, and police have begun an investigation to ascertain the exact reason behind the vehicle overturning. Authorities are examining whether the mishap was caused by speeding, a mechanical fault, or difficult road conditions in the ghat section.
