Pimpri-Chinchwad: Goons Demand Rs 10,000 Monthly ‘Hafta’, Create Ruckus at Warehouse in Dighi
Two men have been arrested for allegedly entering an Instakart warehouse in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region and demanding a monthly extortion payment of Rs 10,000 by threatening staff with a sickle. The incident took place around 11:30 pm on Tuesday (April 7) near Raghav Mangal Karyalay in the Vijaynagar area of Dighi. According to police officials, the accused arrived at the warehouse on a motorcycle and forcefully gained entry while brandishing the weapon. They reportedly intimidated the employees present at the site and warned them of consequences if their demand for regular payment was not fulfilled.
As per the complaint filed by Harshad Arun Aher (25), a resident of Kharadi in Haveli taluka originally from Nashik, the accused have been identified as Sohel Alisher Mirza (23) from Vishrantwadi and Sakir Hussain Ashish Chittaparam (23) from Manjari, both based in Pune. The suspects allegedly declared themselves as “local goons of Dighi” and insisted that the company must pay them Rs 10,000 every month to continue operations smoothly. They also abused the staff, waved the sickle aggressively, and vandalised vehicles parked outside the warehouse to spread fear before fleeing the scene. Police later tracked them down and arrested both individuals.
