Pune: Company Owner Questioned in Hinjawadi Bus Fire Case as Police Begin Probe

The police have questioned the owner of Vyoma Graphics in connection with the Hinjawadi IT Park bus burning incident. Authorities are also interrogating the bus driver to understand how he obtained the hazardous benzene chemical and whether the bus was carrying passengers beyond its capacity.

Janardan Hambardikar, the driver of the Vyoma Graphics bus in Hinjawadi IT Park, had ongoing disputes with some employees at the company. Additionally, he was reportedly frustrated over not receiving a salary increase during Diwali. Investigators revealed that Hambardikar allegedly took a benzene solution from his company, Vyoma Graphics, filled it in a plastic bottle, and placed it under the driver’s seat before committing the horrific act.

Meanwhile, Nitin Shah addressed the media regarding the incident, expressing shock and distress. "We are deeply shaken by this tragedy and are still trying to process it. The police investigation is ongoing, and we are fully cooperating with the authorities. We are also extending all possible assistance to the injured. Some of our employees have been with us since 1985, while others have worked here since 2006. The company has always paid the bus driver’s full salary, and his wages have never been withheld," Shah stated.

However, several critical questions have emerged during the investigation. How was the hazardous benzene chemical, which is not accessible to the general public, stolen from the company? Was there negligence on the part of Vyoma Graphics? Did the Tempo Traveler bus have more passengers than its permitted capacity? What amount of bonus was given to Hambardikar? Was his salary truly withheld, or was this a misunderstanding? Did Hambardikar lodge any complaints against anyone? Were there complaints filed against him by other employees?
