Pune Gang War: Vanraj Andekar Murder Accused’s Brother Shot Dead in Dhankawadi
A fresh incident linked to alleged gang rivalry has been reported from Pune’s Dhankawadi area, where a man was shot dead and later attacked with sharp weapons on Wednesday morning, May 20.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay alias Bala Mhaske, a resident of Ambegaon Pathar and brother of an accused in the Vanraj Andekar murder case. According to preliminary information, the attack took place around 10 am in the Balajinagar area on Wednesday. Police said two to three rounds were allegedly fired at Akshay Mhaske. After he collapsed, the attackers allegedly assaulted him with sharp weapons, including a crowbar and machete, causing fatal injuries.
The incident created panic in the locality, and police teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information.
Investigators suspect the murder may be linked to an ongoing gang rivalry and are examining whether it was carried out as a retaliatory attack. Akshay’s brother, Akash Mhaske, is currently lodged in jail in connection with the Vanraj Andekar murder case.
